PAUL JENKINS

More than just a writer of rhymes

40 (ish) years as a human, 20 years as a performer, 14 years as a father, 10 years as a teacher, 7 poetry books and 1 novel have all perfectly prepared Paul for a life dedicated to educating kids through fun and creativity. He loves nothing more than taking his workshops from school to school, making smallish humans giggle for a day and giving them the confidence to work together to create their own brand new written pieces.

Whilst he's playful on stage he's serious in intent and is regularly called upon to write teaching resources and has worked with the National Literacy Trust, The Shakespeare Schools Festival and BBC Learning so you can rest assured there's a sensible head underneath the silly hat.

When not nurturing the seeds of creativity in young minds or writing new works he can be found elbow deep in popcorn watching Marvel films with his boys or running like a maniac with Ramsbottom Running Club. He's also the founder and host of Waffle, a live poetry open mic night and if that's not enough you can even tune into hear his dulcet tones on Rossendale radio every week. It's safe to say, he doesn't shy away from a challenge.

“Brilliantly silly yet superbly smart poetry that had the children in our audience in absolute fits of giggles"

Tiernan Douieb: Comedy Club 4 Kids

“Hidden in the humour and fun are poems that will stop you in your tracks, like the quietly heartbreaking 'The Rock' and 'Tuesday Nights'.

'Doodles From My Noodle' will entertain children and bring them a great deal of fun, but it doesn't insult them by leaving our more challenging verse”

Coral Rumble: Author of 'Riding A Lion'
